Chardonnay and Shiraz crowned at Vintage Cellars National Wine Show
The results of the Vintage Cellars National Wine Show of Australia were announced in Canberra last night with a $25 West Australian Shiraz and a $90 Chardonnay sharing the spoils. Penfolds 2008 Reserve Bin 08A Chardonnay collected the trophy for best table wine of show among its four trophies while Sandalford Wines’ 2008 Margaret River Range Shiraz picked up the trophy for best dry red table wine
PPC pork packaging praised
PPC Linley Valley Fresh (PPC) has won the 2009 Work Safety Award Western Australia, for best solution to an identified workplace safety and health issue.

The winners were announced on Friday 13 November at the WA wine industry ‘night of nights’ held at Fraser’s Restaurant. The yearly event, hosted by Gerry Gannon, aims to recognise the best of the best in all aspects of the wine industry. The winners were:

·Most Outstanding Wine Brand (Crushing Less Than 300T) - 3drops

WA Wine Industry Awards – a New Award Announced for 2010
At the awards Gala Dinner it was announced that 2010 would see an additional award category, namely the Environmental Stewardship Award. This award is to provide recognition and reward for WA wine producers that strive to reduce their impact on the environment. Future recipients of this award will be able to demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following areas:
·Leading the way in development of innovative sustainable production practices that can be utilised by other producers and will help the industry become more sustainable.
·Effective implementation of a good environmental management system.
New standards set in resource efficiencies. Examples include reductions in the amount of energy or water used per litre of wine produced, or excellence in waste management.
